Wonder Lake Yacht Club
The Wonder Lake Yacht Club was founded in 1941 and was the first social organization in Wonder Lake. Each summer the club offers an exciting array of social activities along with it's Sunday and Holiday C Scow racing schedule, so there is something for everyone, sailors and non-sailors alike.

Browse through our website. We are sure you will find something of interest, and then come out and join us. The club consists of two separate memberships. The Sailing membership and the Social membership.

Most of the sailors belong to both memberships, but we have many individuals who opt for just the Social membership.

Annual Summer Events
Late April, early May we have our Spring meeting with sailing award presentations from the prior year.

In June it's a Flotilla, where many pontoons are tied together in the West bay, everyone brings an appetizer to pass and we enjoy refreshments and camaraderie.

July is a very busy month. The WLYC sponsors Venetian Night which has become a part of the Patriotic Celebration weekend for several years. Click on the above highlighted link for this year's information. As the parade of boats passes by, it's not uncommon to see local residents with bonfires, cheering and waving flashlights from the shore. The Yacht Club will also have a float in the WL Patriotic Celebration parade.

In August the club hosts the annual Pontoon Progressive Dinner Party, where several lake front home owners host a portion of the meal. Travel to the various meal courses is via pontoon boats, and each year a different theme is determined. This is the big event each year and is always well attended.

The second Saturday in September is the Fish & Weeds Regatta, which is an annual C Scow race between the WLYC, Brown's Lake , and some Pistakee Lake and Lake Geneva sailors. This is a fun event for the skippers and crew to reconnect with teams from the other lakes. It is also beautiful to watch.

C Scow LogoThe C Scow was the first class of scow built by Harry C. Melges, Sr. in 1945; it quickly became an all-time speed favorite. The C Scow has come a long way from the days of wooden materials and cotton sails. It continues to be a very revolutionary sailboat, inspired by more than 100 years of competitive racing. This cat-rigged, maneuverable sailboat is great fun and a total pleasure to sail..... Very Fast, Fun, and Furious!
