Several Yacht Club members and their recruited helpers put the buoys in the lake on Saturday, 4/16. It was a beautiful unseasonably warm April day. A big thanks to Dennis Gallo who rallied the troops consisting of: Greg Pierce, Dennis Palys, Ron Newman, Tom Cooper, Ken Shaleen, Tony Mussel, Bob Schell and Bill McKinney.
It was windy and chilly out there on the lake, but the job is finished. Wings, goose roll-ups and goose legs (just hunted by Tony Musel and Jason Conrad from the Sportsman's Club this morning.
8/22/2015 Pontoon Progressive Dinner Party was a hit and the theme was "Mad Hatter". Hosts were: Appetizers - Reggie & Cyndy Layoff/Jack & Cindy Giba. Main Course - Bruce & Pam Sansone. Dessert - Dennis & Jeannie Gallo.
This year's 4th of July parade float was an old wooden boat that Dennis Palys had just finished rebuilding.
The WLYC sponsored Venetian Night was held on Friday night, 7/3/2015. It was a beautiful night and six boats participated in the parade around the lake. The winning boat was artistically created by the threesome of: Diane & Adeline Bieniarz & Tim Kohlstedt. Each person on this team did a different task in the design.
6/13/2015 - Flotilla was in competition with storms and the Chicago Blackhawks. 4 pontoons with 27 hardy people came out to enjoy appetizers, refreshments, and old and new friendships on the beautiful waters of Wonder Lake.
Another busy summer has come and is almost gone. We still have sailing races on Sunday/Monday Labor Day weekend, the Fish and Weeds Regatta at Brown's Lake on September 6, our Fall meeting later in September and the Buoy Removal in early October. Here's a quick recap of the fun we enjoyed this summer.
Yacht Club members braved cool temps and windy conditions while they placed all of the buoys back into the lake on April 12, 2014. Upon completion a combined cookout was held between WLYC and Sportsman Club volunteers who had just completed removing debris from the beaches. Ken's tuna and Sportsman Club brats where served.
Yacht club members had a great day to retrieve and clean the buoys this year. Beautiful blue skies and much warmer temps than last year. Ken seared blue and yellow fin tuna this year and Dennis added some tasty marinated wings. Great job guys and gals!

The C Scow was the first class of scow built by Harry C. Melges, Sr. in 1945; it quickly became an all-time speed favorite. The C Scow has come a long way from the days of wooden materials and cotton sails. It continues to be a very revolutionary sailboat, inspired by more than 100 years of competitive racing. This cat-rigged, maneuverable sailboat is great fun and a total pleasure to sail..... Very Fast, Fun, and Furious!
